Course Description
The online television and video industry is growing by leaps and bounds. According to research from InStat, “the worldwide market for online content services is expected to expand by a factor of 10, growing from about 13 million households during 2005 to over 131 million households by 2010.” All publishers, from large media companies to individual producers programming niche content, are coming online to publish and distribute their content. Monetizing video through advertising is critical, whether it be to recoup the high cost of video production or to establish additional revenue channels for existing web properties.

Video monetization requires coordination and collaboration from many teams within an organization. Web development, programming, editorial and Ad Operations teams must work very closely together to ensure that content is tagged, categorized, published and distributed to both increase stream volume and create saleable channels to generate revenue.

This course will break down the complexities of monetizing video, including integrating ad serving systems, encoding video ads, tagging content effectively for ad targeting, defining specifications and developing ad creative according to those specifications, and troubleshooting. Attendees will learn basic production techniques as well as best practices for encoding the video in Flash to allow for ad server integration with click tracking.
