The ad blockers aren’t coming; the ad blockers are here. More than a quarter of U.S. Internet users pack an ad blocker according to a 2014 Adobe-PageFair study, and that number is ramping up fast. But how should publishers approach this threat to their revenue – is it a matter of blocking the blockers? Pleading with users or offering them something in exchange? In a session both philosophical and technical, Madhura Sengupta will discuss the ramifications of acting against ad blocking while detailing common methodologies for detecting block-enabled traffic, what tech providers are offering for combat, and other strategies for managing this growing concern.
