Course Description

The online environment is complex and when an important ad campaign runs into problems it’s sometimes hard to even diagnose the problem, let alone fix it. This course aims to give ad operations staff the knowledge and tools to troubleshoot issues and enable them to work with vendors, agencies and editorial staff to resolve them.

The course starts with a dive into the technical aspects of ad operations by covering Adobe Flash & Javascript as they apply to online advertising. An introduction to both technologies is followed by a more detailed overview of the pain points and the tools and techniques used to identify Javascript & Flash issues.

Who should attend?

This course will be beneficial to entry level ad operations staff, ranging from individuals seeking to enter the field to new hires and staff who have been in ad ops/trafficking for 2-4 months who are responsible for managing or working with javascript and flash creatives.

Remote Access:

Remote Access is designed to increase accessibility of our training programs, by providing a convenient way to educate ad ops professionals who wouldn’t otherwise be able to take part at the in-person training courses.

Our courses are now presented through Adobe Connect Pro, which allows remote participants to hear the instructor live, follow along with the presentation, ask questions, and get answers in real-time. By allowing employees to participate via Remote Access, companies can save money by reducing travel time and costs while ensuring that their ad ops department gets the same high quality training.

About the Instructor: David Burrows started off studying CD-ROM design, but while he was at university the web was invented, which seemed like a much better way of doing things. He’s been involved in web development and online advertising ever since.

David has experience of online advertising from many sides of the industry having worked for a creative agency, a publisher/portal and a vendor during his career. His time at Yahoo! involved running many billions of ad impressions around the world and exposed him to a large proportion of the problems experienced in Ad Operations. He looks forward to sharing the tools and techniques to resolve these issues with a wider audience.

David is currently Global Director of Advertising Operations at Phorm, his previous positions include Head of Ad Technology for Yahoo! Europe and Founder/Director of Specialmoves, a high end interactive production company.

He holds a first class degree in Digital Arts and Technology from Plymouth University.
