Keynote Address: James Sandoval
James cut his digital marketing teeth in 1999/2000 at the digital marketing services agency, Avenue A, in Seattle, Washington. The agency energy was electric, we had great leadership, we won new clients week after week, the day-to-day pace was manic and frenzied, we were emboldened by in-house, mad-scientist talent developing killer proprietary serving/tracking technology (now known as Microsoft’s Atlas Solutions); colleagues were scary smart, hungry and pulling all-nighters (one colleague could be found regularly sleeping under his desk in the morning). Within 12 months, James was managing $25+ million in primarily web display ad budgets. Technology and data were king. Clients loved us. We rocked and we knew it. And then the industry went pear-shaped.
That was about 9 years ago.
Since then, James has had the great fortune to work with hugely talented digital marketing agency teams at Carat Interactive, Diffiniti, Isobar Global and most recently at Neo@Ogilvy, where he was the Technology & Analytics Director.
Now? Well, James is still at it. Like there’s no tomorrow. Call him insane. He certainly needs therapy.
What James enjoys most, outside of a cold, tall Weissbier and time with his partner and baby girl, is creating data collection and business intelligence strategies that feed custom targeting/reporting solutions, empower planners, buyers and operations teams to blow clients’ socks off with killer business results. It’s a team thing. And operations teams are critically important pieces of the process.
James works to win – but also loves to learn. If you know him, you’ll know that he’s always pushing the [technology, targeting, data & operations] envelope.
