About the Session

Topic: Publishing in a Post Web World

With the proliferation of mobile and tablet devices, the predicted rise of connected TVs and the mainstream adoption of Facebook and Twitter, how will changing technology affect brand advertisers and publishers?

Paul Lomax, CTO at Dennis Interactive, talks from the unique perspective of a technologist with media sales experience. Leading the online product development in a publishing business, he shares the challenges, opportunities and threats we face as we potentially move into a post-web world.

Are paywalls the solution or can advertising still pay? Does user experience design help or hinder advertising? Has the death of the CPM been called too early? Are we destined for death by direct marketing, or is brand advertising still to come of age online? With technology becoming ubiquitous and pervasive, what happens when everything is online? How will business models adapt? And how can ad-operations play a central role?
