Industry leaders and those affected by the ePrivacy Directive get together to discuss the Directive itself as well as the impending implications and best practice for compliance.

 

The session is introduced by the IAB' UKs Director of Regulatory Affairs and Privacy expert Nick Stringer.

Introduction: Privacy: What You Need to Know 

Summary:

The spotlight is firmly fixed on our industry at the moment with the e-privacy directive coming into full effect in May 2012. 

Nick Stringer leads this session on e-privacy, cookies and general data protection focusing on the legislation and how best to adhere to it and demonstrate that self-regulation in our market remains prudent.

Nick joined the IAB as its first head of regulatory affairs back in April 2008. He leads the sector, both in the UK and at EU level, in working for the optimal policy environment for digital advertising - in particular on privacy issues. 


 Nick led the work to publish the IAB’s Good Practice Principles for behavioural advertising in March 2009, providing new rules based around notice, choice and education to help guide the industry and enhance consumer trust. Prior to his work at the IAB, Nick worked at Orange, leading public policy issues across both mobile and broadband

Damian Scragg
Managing Director, UK
Evidon

Damian heads up client services and development across the EU region for Evidon.  Damian was most recently Vice President of International Sales & Services at Auditude Inc., the leading US-based video ad management platform, where he developed the European go-to-market strategy, helping to build a presence in the UK and Europe.

Damian has significant experience in the online advertising sector, including three years as European Sales Director at Right Media, the first and largest online advertising exchange, implementing their European strategy prior to, during and after its takeover by Yahoo!.

Damian’s 14 years of sales experience include roles at Transactis UK, Abacus Direct, CACI Ltd and Centaur Communications Ltd.  Damian has a BA (Hons) in International Business with French & Italian from the University of Plymouth.   

 

 

Joseph Pamboris
Head of Tracking Technology

OMD


With over 9 years of Ad Operations experience, Joseph heads up all areas of tracking technology for the OMD Digital group.

 


His main remit entails providing competitive analysis and evaluations of the technology/metrics providers available, consultation and systems requirements on technology builds (bespoke or off-the-shelf), and general efficiency in the process of implementation of campaigns and web-analytics. As the majority of digital marketing technologies use cookies and user tracking software, he is also heavily involved in the privacy aspects of the industry.

Zuzanna Gierlinkska

Director Scale Display, EMEA

 

 

London based Zuzanna is responsible for delivering Microsofts “Scaled Display” strategy, evangelizing the capabilities of the Microsoft Media Network and Microsoft Advertising Exchange driving revenue share and growth across the EMEA markets. 


Her role encompases overseeing sales, marketing and product development, acting as a pivitol point of feedback betweek the customer and Microsoft’s Redmond based Business Divisions.


Zuzanna’s career began in digital media and over 12 years she’s worked across a multitude of both start-up and established business from ISPs and Portals to an online auction house and an internet retailer before joining the UK’s 1st media network, in 2004. She stayed with this company running the sales division and eventually joined Microsoft under the aQuantive acquisition in July 2008. 

Zuzanna is a recognised industry expert on data driven audience targeting and vice-chair of the UK IAB’s Behaviour Targeting Council.  She is a frequent and highly competant media commentator drawing upon her extensive experience to help shine a light on the fast paced and dynamic digital marketplace. Her consumate ability to educate businesses has led her to become one of Microsoft’s most visable industry evangelists.

 

 

Neil Matthews

CSMB CRM Data Protection and Privacy Manager - EMEA

Dell

 

Neil is responsible for introducing corporate policy into the CSMB CRM business within Dell –

advising on new technology and ensuring Privacy compliant solutions, primarily within EMEA, but

extending globally to embrace the scope of new technology.

 


Before joining Dell Neil spent 3 years advising on Privacy and Telemarketing operations within

Acxiom Limited, prior to that heading the Compliance Unit at the UK Direct Marketing Association,

preceded by over 20 years in the Direct Mail sector.

 

Neil has advised on Marketing and Data Protection, actively participating in external organisations

such as FEDMA, DMA (UK) and the International Association of Privacy professionals

 

Currently Vice Chair IAPP KnowledgeNet London and Member of IAPP European Advisory Board.
