Matthew Degel
Matthew Degel is SVP, Head of Architecture for Viacom, Inc., leading the architecture team responsible for delivering the overall architectural direction for the company, with additional responsibilities encompassing governance, enterprise integration and process definition. Integrating effective cutting edge approaches for information, application and infrastructure architecture with established industry best practices, Matthew has been driving a new vertically integrated strategy to evolve the core content supply chain. This change will lead the transition from a channel-centric approach to a highly flexible content-centric one focused on efficiently delivering media to an ever broadening variety of partners, platforms and devices, while also driving out complexity and cost. Prior to this role, Matthew was Chief Technology Officer for MTV Networks International, leading technology operations in a fast-growing and dynamic global environment (including broadcast operations for 143 channels and production technology operations located in 14 cities) and supporting systems and users in 42 offices across 26 countries speaking 16 languages and spanning 19 time zones.
Before Viacom, Matthew was at Microsoft Corp. for 12 years in both client-facing roles (Enterprise Architect with the Media & Telecom Vertical and Principal Consultant with Microsoft Consulting Services) and in development roles (including the Visual Basic product group and the Windows for Smart Cards product group). Prior to Microsoft, Matthew worked as a Vice President at Citicorp working in both technology and finance roles.
