Serving non-rich media in explandable slots?

Hi Monsters,

Can somebody please help with a rising star/rich media question?

Specifically, I'm wondering if it is possible for publishers to serve a 970x250 non-rich media creative in a 970x250 rich media expandable "billboard" slot. Meaning, if a publisher can serve the rising star 970x250 rich media expandable creatives can they also serve 970x250 non rich media creatives if that is what the advertiser has. And if so, any details on execution is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Roger

Very helpful, thanks for your time and the info Nina

Hi Roger,

We currently support the 970x250 Billboard ad unit on some of our consumer sites and accept a variety of creative formats for this ad slot. Whether you can support non-rich media creatives or not will likely depend on the implementation you have in place to call or serve the 970x250.

We're using a JavaScript 970x250 ad call that supports basically any creative format provided, and are currently rotating a client's image, Flash & 3rd party ad tags served to this slot. The ad call also defines a combo size of 300x250,970x250 to share the inventory pool for efficient ad selection/delivery. Similar to our other JS based ad calls across our network, we just define the ad slot size for 970x250 dimensions and support the same formats we do for any other standard ad slot.

Happy to discuss further - Hope this helps -

Best,
Nina
