Open Source Ad Server Software

A start up client of ours is looking for an ad server. They are already trending to about 2 billion impressions a month so an ad server based on a CPM pricing would not work. Does anyone know of any ad server software that can be bought as a software package or any open source ad servers out there.

Does your client have the resources to run 2 billion impressions on their own? Would you be doing this for them? It takes hardware, network infrastructure, built-in redundancy, 24/7 monitoring, etc. Plus, with open source, they run the risk of malware. Sounds like they'd be paying more in the end.

If they go with 24/7 Media, DoubleClick, etc., I bet they can negotiate a pretty good CPM for the adserving, which includes everything I described above. If they work it right, they may even get the adserving for free (e.g., joining the 24/7 Media network) and even get paid.
