As we’ve written before on AdMonsters, publisher first-party data is the oil of the digital advertising industry. However, just like with the oil industry, the money is not in drilling (i.e., gathering) but refining, and without refining the product can’t be monetized. Of course, refining first-party data is a far more complicated process than collection. 

Driving revenue from first-party data has long frustrated publishers that realize the potential well they’re sitting on. While DMPs and other tools have aided their efforts, scaled data monetization still feels elusive for many publishers. At this Meetup, sponsored by Rocket Fuel, a variety of publishers will detail their successes and challenges monetizing first-party data through audience extension, on-site segmenting, programmatic channels and more. They’ll examine pros and cons with the tools and processes currently available, and how they aim to improve their output as the space develops.
